Mercedes-Benz Actros

Pieter Smit Group has officially expanded its fleet with the addition of 41 new Mercedes-Benz Actros 1848 4x2 low deck trucks. Delivered by our long-term mobility partner GomesTrucks, these vehicles are immediately being deployed for local theater productions and intensive international event tours across Europe.

Reliability Under Pressure

In the event and entertainment logistics sector, timing is everything. Whether managing a regional theater run or a massive stadium tour, tight schedules, complex logistics, and immense time pressure are our daily reality. In this demanding environment, there is simply no room for downtime; every minute counts, and the show must always go on.

This fleet expansion is a direct investment in operational certainty for our clients. When a production crew is waiting and the audience is arriving, our equipment must perform flawlessly. Our clients need to be able to completely rely on our hardware, and these new low deck trucks—specifically configured for high-volume mega trailers—ensure we can keep that promise.

What This Means for Our Operations

  • Capacity & Stability: With a total fleet of approximately 1,700 registered units—including over 350 trucks, 350 vans, and more than 1,000 trailers—this addition significantly boosts our capacity and resilience, ensuring we can prevent logistical bottlenecks.

  • Urban Safety Without Compromise: Our vehicles routinely operate in crowded city centers, tight backstage areas, and busy festival grounds. To protect vulnerable road users, these trucks are equipped with advanced safety systems, fully complying with strict urban requirements such as the London DVS (Direct Vision Standard) and PSS (Progressive Safe System) regulations.

  • Sustainable Logistics Where Possible: Reducing our environmental footprint is an ongoing focus. While full-scale implementation depends on local infrastructure and planning constraints, we utilize HVO biofuel whenever feasible, allowing us to reduce $CO_2$ emissions by up to 90% on those routes.

A Partnership Built on Trust

In international event logistics, having reliable vehicles is only half the battle; the support network behind them is just as critical. The partnership between Pieter Smit Group and GomesTrucks goes back decades. Because our trucks cover vast distances in a highly demanding environment, we rely heavily on fast service, a robust European network, and direct lines of communication. GomesTrucks continues to provide our in-house workshop with the parts and technical guidance needed to keep our fleet moving without delay.

With these 41 new trucks on the road, our team is fully prepared for a packed season of theater, sports, and live entertainment.

We would like to thank GomesTrucks for their smooth delivery and their continued partnership! Let's hit the road
